Updating ipod touch 1 1 5 to 2 2

Rated 4.51/5 based on 897 customer reviews

Visit Stack Exchange I've got an i Pod Touch 2nd Gen. When I click 'Check for Update' in i Tunes it says it's already running the latest version. I thought I could update to i OS 4 (I only want to upgrade so I can get Bluetooth on the thing so I can use it in the car). My 2nd gen touch is running 4.2.1 just fine and dandy.

(It appears that, like the i Phone 3G, they won't get 4.3, though.) I'd recommend to download the 4.2.1 update from Apple directly and option-restore the update to your device.

Though the Apple has made firmware update process very simple and with over the air support you don’t need to download entire 700 MB of firmware file.

However all those new i OS device owner might not be comfortable with firmware update process and wondering how to manually update to recently released i OS 5.1.1 firmware.

That makes sense; fewer i Pods are sold these days and new models come out less frequently, so there are fewer changes to make.

After it's been restored, then you can update the operating system.

i OS 5.1.1 firmware update is available for i Phone, i Pad and i Pod Touch.
